Hi, I’m Mary Cochron, and I’m here to help you take the mystery out of assessing your child’s progress during your homeschooling journey. With 19 years of experience in education and a passion for making assessments simple and effective, I’m excited to share insights, tools, and strategies with you that can truly make a difference.

My career started as a social studies teacher, where I quickly realized how powerful assessments could be—not just as tests, but as tools for understanding where students are and how they can grow. That fascination led me into leadership roles in research, evaluation, and assessment, both at the district and state levels.

In 2020, I became a stepmom to two wonderful kids, which transformed how I think about communicating with families about student learning. Now more than ever, I understand the importance of clear, straightforward information for parents trying to do their best for their children.

In 2022, I founded Metimur LLC, an educational measurement consulting firm designed to support schools and districts in making data and assessments work for them, not against them. Through Metimur, I focus on helping educators, parents, and administrators understand how to gather and use data in a way that promotes real learning progress. Homeschooling parents like you deserve the same high-quality tools and resources used in school systems, and my goal is to show you how to use them in a practical, stress-free way.

When I’m not working, I’m usually with my family in California, along with our dogs and an ever-changing number of goldfish. You might also find me in the kitchen cooking up a storm or preparing for another community charity event with my Rotary club.

I’m excited to be on this journey with you, offering tips and advice on how to make assessments a helpful part of your homeschool routine, rather than a headache. Let’s work together to make learning easier and more meaningful for your child!
